Kishiwada Danjiri Festival

岸和田だんじり1

The danjiri festival in September&October in Osaka every year.
Danjiri is a traditional wooden float in the shape of a shrine or temple.
The taiko (drum) and kane (bell) are used to play the danjiri rhythm.

Working both front and rear levers in unison, Danjiri teams literally skid their heavy Danjiris around each street corner.
Done quickly to the beat of drums and shouts of the pulling team, corner turning is one of the most dramatic elements of the festival!

Danjiri Matsuri Festival is praying for an abundant harvest in Kishiwada city over 300 years.
